Sarah & Jason || Clover Barn

As we continue living in this world pandemic, there are still so many unknowns that we face each and every day. We wanted to highlight one of our brides this week who chose to elope several months ago. Sarah and Jason will be celebrating AGAIN this weekend with their friends and family who were unable to join them for the intimate ceremony pictured below.

It’s so sweet to hear from our brides directly on their experiences wedding planning under these circumstances. Here is a note from Sarah:

“When Jason & I chose our date, we knew we were in for a long engagement. As time went on, we became more and more excited for our big day. May 2020 was going to be one of the best of our lives between my college graduation, our dream wedding, and the honeymoon of a lifetime.

As COVID-19 developed, I became uncertain of what’s to come. Postponing our wedding is something we never planned for, we were devastated. Thankfully, we had Karla of Honey & Joy events and our many amazing vendors help us through the transition of changing dates to later this fall.

As our original date drew near, I couldn’t help but think, why not elope? The idea of eloping became more and more attractive, but I always dreamed about having a big wedding with all of our friends and family. But who said we couldn’t have both? We decided to keep our new date for the fall and have an intimate ceremony with our first family.

Having “two weddings” gave me the opportunity to design both the weddings I wanted to have. Two venues, two color schemes, two dresses, and a chance to do it all over again with my love.

Our intimate elopement with our direct family was more perfect than we could have ever imagined. Being able to share our special moment with the ones we love the most was so special. What made it even more special for me, was having my mom marry us.

My mom and I have always been very close. Being an only child, I spent all my time with my mom. With my mother in California & myself in Iowa, the time we are able to spend together is even more special. Having my mom perform our ceremony made it more meaningful to me than I could’ve asked for.

I am incredibly thankful to have been able to have incredible vendors to make this last minute decision into a reality. Jason & I can't wait to do it all over again three months from the day we were married.”
